Vegetables roasting in a wide pan over an open wood fire

West Asheville, NC

Forty-two seats.
One is yours.

Reserve one and every plate that reaches it comes off a single oak fire. The bar we hold back for whoever walks in.

DinnerTuesday to Sunday
HearthOak and hickory
Walk-insThe bar, nightly

One fire. Everything comes off it.

Bread, vegetables, scallops, steaks. No gas range hiding in the back.

A wood fire has hot spots, cool spots, and a mood of its own. The cooks read it instead of setting a dial. That keeps the menu short and moving. Right fire for whole fish on a Thursday, we serve whole fish on a Thursday.

Nina Alderete opened Emberline in 2021. She still works the hearth most nights, which is why the pass sits in the middle of the room instead of behind a wall.
